Dancing-couple-painting-150x150[1]It’s important to recall that “Christian Community” is more than assembling for Worship, Bible Studies and Sunday School. We are encouraged by scripture to associate with one another at all levels; social activities included. In order to provide Christians of varying interests opportunities to associate with one another in a Christian atmosphere St. John’s has elected to sponsor the Dancing Christian’s Association (DCA) which is managed by Parishioners and sanctioned by the Vestry. The DCA will have social dances open to the public from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month starting in May. Dances will begin and end with prayer. The DCA sponsors a free dance lesson on the same days from 5:45 to 6:15 pm. Music will be a mix of recorded, DJ and the occasional live band. Music for all styles of dancing will be available; Country & Western, Big Band Ballroom, Waltz, Swing, Latin, Tango, Bachata, Cumbia, Viennese Waltz and more! A voluntary donation of $5 per couple and $3 per single is requested. DCA shall provide Free Child care for toddlers and up by caregivers having completed prior background checks. Children will be in the Children’s room contained within the same building just a short hallway from the dancing area. Parents can come and go as appropriate. There will be no smoking or drinking of alcohol – but the DCA will furnish light snacks, desserts and drinks. Talk with Kevin or Rebecca Pate and Steve or Susan Almon if you have questions. Come and enjoy Christian Fellowship while getting a little exercise on the Dance floor.
